Jessica Lax and Jocelyn Land-Murphy
Co-founders of the Otesha Project
The Otesha Project was born in 2002 while Jessica and Jocelyn
were studying sustainable development in Kenya. Otesha means
"reason to dream" in Swahili, and they work towards
empowering youth and people to make a positive change in our
society, especially in our consumption. The Otesha Project
travels across Canada, bringing theatre, story-telling, puppets
and high energy to classroom and communities, and teaching
them about the power of people.
They've biked across the country with over 100 people, and
these hopeful hooligans are always up to something amazing!
If you'd like to check out the Otesha Project and join in
on their next bike trip (the next cross-Canada trek is setting
out in 2005), their website is www.otesha.ca.
